180 Wellbeing: Start the Day with Art and Play Workshop

LONDON, 2023

In this session at 180 Wellbeing for Soho House , Beatrix guided participants through a check-in drawing - a focused art exercise to create intuitive drawings to check into their feelings of the morning. Following this, they were encouraged to engage in play which is an overlooked yet scientifically proven method of benefiting our social, emotional an physical health. Through a simple exercise designed by Beatrix, they practices fun and joy to allevate stress and boost a positive mood. The session was rounded off with a short meditation.

 

Soho House: Being Creative, Being Asian

LONDON, 2023

Beatrix Ong MBE hosts a series of fire-side chats in the series she produces, ‘Being Creative, Being Asian.’ Approached by Soho House to be included in their diversity programming through the Houses, Beatrix invites key figures of Asian origins in the creative and wellness industries, to share their experiences whilst raising awareness and celebrating the Asian, East Asian and South East Asian identity. With more than 120 sign ups per talk, it is set to be a popular on-going conversation.

Soho House: Eco Family Workshop

LONDON, 2023

Beatrix Ong MBE and award winning CQ Studio hosted an eco creative event at Soho House London. The family workshop was designed to ignite children’s imagination through creativity and nature - learning about the importance of our connection to the world around us and the origins of some of the elements that were used in the session - bug alert!

Children had the opportunity to design and use embroidery, appliqué or screen printing with the natural materials to produce their own eco artwork.

The Cordwainers National Footwear Student of the Year Awards 2020

The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers is delighted to announce the winners of the
Cordwainers National Footwear Student of the Year Awards 2020.

Now in its seventh year, the competition to design ‘an innovative and marketable shoe’, is fiercely contested by students studying at the three universities which offer footwear design courses: De Montfort University, the University of Northampton and the London College of Fashion at the University of the Arts, London. This year, students have risen to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 emergency, producing exceptional portfolios, which they submitted digitally.

It is fantastic that such significant figures have been so generous with their time and expertise to encourage young talent and promote the future of British footwear design’.

This family activity requires a parent/guardian to attend with their child. Suitable for children aged 8-11 years.

Learn basic principles of footwear design and create your own slippers with designer Beatrix Ong. Join this workshop to explore the design of footwear whilst gaining inspiration to develop your own ideas. Learn about the construction of a basic cosy house slipper, which you can adapt and personalise to make your own. You will gain the basic knowledge of how to make simple footwear and be able to continue making more slippers at home. This workshop has a sustainability focus, materials will be supplied but please do feel free to bring your own to help decorate your designs.

Representing Dato Jimmy Choo and The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers, Ong was asked to help decide the winner of the award which helps the students with their final projects’ expenses.

 Beatrix Ong MBE at Innovation by Design Conference

The Shoe Tree by BEATRIX ONG x  Joined and Jointed was selected to be included in Wallpaper* Handmade Classics.

Launched on 9 March as part of the fourth annual Singapore Design Week, the exhibition will present a selection of the finest designs from Wallpaper’s Handmade initiative. An annual project now in its eighth year, Wallpaper* Handmade sees the world’s foremost design magazine cherry-pick cutting-edge artists, makers and manufacturers from around the globe to create one-off pieces. From sleek industrial accessories to furniture, food, fashion and more, the works are presented each year as an exhibition at Milan’s Salone del Mobile and in a special edition of the magazine. It’s a profound enterprise, exploring the meeting of design and expert craftsmanship through ingenuity and customisation.
